Our Humble Beginnings
Winki Zinc was founded in 2018 with a simple mission: to create high-quality, natural zinc sunscreen that is good for your skin and the planet. We started small, selling our products at local markets and stores. Over the past five years, we've grown our business slowly and our online presence steadily, but we've never lost sight of our values.
The Allure of Selling Out
As our popularity grew, we were approached by several large companies interested in stocking mass orders of Winki Zinc across the country. Whilst grateful for the opportunity we knew that mass production would mean compromising our values. We would have lost control over our products and our brand, and we would no longer be able to support small businesses the way we have and wanted to.
Staying True to Our Values
We made the decision to remain independent and continue to grow at our own pace. We believe that slow growth is better for our business, our customers, and the planet. It allows us to make decisions based on our values, not just on money. It also allows us to build relationships with our customers and our community.
The Importance of Face-to-Face Connection
In today's digital age, we're losing touch with our communities. We're ordering everything online, and we're not interacting with our neighbours as much as we used to. At Winki Zinc, we believe that face-to-face connection is so important and we want to preserve the communities we live in, keep them connected.
